Running Friedensbrücke

So running is obviously a basic part of my personal fitness program. Being new in Vienna I try to find some nice routes and keep updating from time to time. My first experience was pretty close to where I live. From „Friedensbrücke“ alongside the Donau. Pretty nice, a lot of other runners (Sunday afternoon) and some nice impressions and possibilites to do some other fitness stuff (thx to the Vienna „Summer Stage“).

Prater Skating

Prater Skating

So lets cover it up with my first skating experience in Vienna. Actually I think this was the common or most touristic skating parcour possible ;-) I went from my home to the Prater and did some cruising over there. Was quite funny, even though the way to the prater wasn‘t that beautiful ;-) But once you‘re there, it‘s really nice.

You basically have one big road on which you can skate for about 25 – 30 minutes in one direction (moderate speed). The street is pretty ok. Some good parts, some not so good parts, but overall pretty skateable.

Since 25 minutes skating isn‘t that much, there is, of course, more to come ;-) While skating on the „main road“ there are some possibilities to leave this road and to head into different directions. Today I chose on of the last ways out ( ;-) ) and was skating for about one hour into one direction. So there are a lot of possibilities to keep rolling :-)

Besides skating at the Prater itself, there‘s one more cool thing too. The Donaukanal is pretty close to the Prater and so there‘s another nice opportunity to roll aside the river Donau.

First Contact – Ein erstes Mal unter Einheimischen

Billabong ist ja nicht nur eine coole, australische, Surfermarke, sondern auch der Name für Wasserlöcher bei den Aboriginees. Da diese Wasserlöcher in der australischen Wüste natürlich nicht so häufig vorkommen, sammeln sich dort oftmals viele Eingeborene…

Doch nicht nur in der Wüste Australias gibt es sowas zu beobachten. Auch in Austria scheint es solche Sammelstellen durstiger und hungriger Eingeborener zu geben. Selbst der Name ist ähnlich. Billa heißt die Pilgerstätte, die selbst an Feiertagen bis 21 Uhr aufgesucht werden kann um körperliche Bedürfnisse zu stillen. Unglaublich wie laut und voll solch ein Supermarkt werden kann. Am ersten Tag in Wien gleich mal ein Kulturschock  ;-)
